A conference focusing on how revalidation will apply to nurses in specialist and advanced roles will be held on 9 June at the ICO Conference Centre in London. The event will be chaired by Dame Donna Kinnair, clinical director of emergency medicine and nurse at Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Speakers include Howard Catton, director of policy at the RCN, Alan Corry-Finn, director of nursing at Western Health and Social Care Trust (an NMC revalidation pilot site), and Linda Nazarko, a consultant nurse at Ealing Community Services and lead for IV therapy and dementia at London North West Healthcare NHS Trust. Some of the topics that will be discussed include competency development for advanced nurses, setting the standard for specialist practice and advanced roles, and demonstrating competence in diagnosis.
