Arthritis Research UK has given almost £50,000 of funding to a research group at the Royal Cornwall and Truro Hospital to improve the knowledge of arthritis among district nurses, practice nurses and those working in nursing homes.

The team will recruit arthritis patients from Cornwall, Exeter and Bristol to take part in focus groups to learn what health workers need to know to enable them to care for patients effectively.

The findings will be used to develop training for community-based nurses and other health professionals.

Physiotherapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists and podiatrists working in the community and social care teams in Cornwall will also be targeted.
