A motivational interviewing course will be offered to over 1000 practice nurses and GPs across the North West of London.

The course will be delivered by BPP University's School of Health, who won the CPD training programme awarded by Health Education North West London as part of its 'Shaping a Healthier Future' project.

Motivational interviewing helps healthcare professionals increase their competency in supporting patients to change their behaviour in areas such as weight, smoking, physical activity, medication, substance use and healthy eating.

Matt Green, director of professional development at BPP University's School of Health, said: 'This. . . demonstrates how we are combining the credibility of being a university with being able to offer high quality CPD training programmes that meet the flexible learning needs of a large region.'

Professor Christina Cunliffe, Dean of BPP University's School of Health, commented: 'Since its inception of the School of Health [has demonstrated] its ability to offer education and training across a range of healthcare disciplines.'

The Motivational Interviewing programme will begin at the end of May. For further information or for any queries, please contact CPPD@nwl.hee.nhs.uk or apply through the BPP University website.
