The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) are seeking to recruit a new member for their council from Wales, the organisation has announced.

The successful candidate must be an NMC registrant and work mainly in Wales. The time commitment for this role is approximately three days a month, which includes preparation for, and attendance at Council and Committee meetings, and other NMC business.

‘This is an exciting time to join the NMC,’ said Professor Dame Janet Finch, chair of the NMC. ‘Revalidation is being successfully rolled out and we are embarking on a major programme to define the nurse of the future, as the basis for revising our standards for education.’

Applications for the role close on 21 March, and the new council member will be expected to take up their position by 1 July.

‘As a member of the Council you will contribute to this important public protection agenda whilst overseeing a significant business transformation,’ added Professor Finch. ’Our key ambition is to become a leading and dynamic regulator. As a member of our Council you will play a crucial role in making that ambition a reality.’
