A group of nurses, students and corporate supporters will be climbing Mount Edith Cavell to raise money for the Cavell Nurse's Trust.

The team will head to Jasper National Park in Canada, for a week of fundraising challenges. From 22 to 29 August, the team will spend 50 hours covering over 30 miles of Jasper National Park.

The Mount Cavell Challenge includes a 12 to 18 hour climb on Mount Edith Cavell, a 3363m high peak in the Canadian Rockies. Other challenges include rock-climbing, white-water rafting, kayaking, mountain biking and glacier walking.

The trip is designed to raise awareness and funds for the Cavell Nurses' Trust, a UK charity providing welfare support to nurses, midwives, healthcare assistants and students experiencing financial or personal hardship.

Jon Penhale, the operations director of the Cavell Nurse's Trust and the leader of the challenge, said: 'We are really excited for the challenge. If we manage to recruite 100 team members we could raise close to £250,000. We haven't decided yet if this will be a one-off challenge, but we wanted to do something big to mark the trust centenary.'

The Trust was set up in memory of British nurse Edith Cavell who, after helping 200 Allied soldiers reach freedom, was sentenced to death in October 1915.

Mount Cavell Challenge raffle tickets are available to buy at £2 each and one winner will win the chance to join the team for free. Anyone interested in entering the raffle can buy tickets from the trust website.

The team is still taking volunteers for the climb. More information can be found on the website.
