A government-commissioned independent review into the training and support of healthcare assistants (HCAs) is to be led by The Times journalist Camilla Cavendish.

The review will investigate how HCAs can access the training and support they require to provide care at the highest standards. Ms Cavendish will report back to the government at the end of May, after agreeing to conduct the review, which looks set to draw on the lessons from the Francis Report.
