Could you please outline the rules around labelling contraceptive pill boxes as I need to follow them for the purposes of clinical governance. We have been told by our PCT's community pharmacist that our current practice is illegal and that only doctors and pharmacists can label boxes, but I am not sure that this is true. I would be grateful if you could provide further clarification?

In your letter, you say that contraceptive pill boxes are not labelled by your hospital pharmacy as they are dispensed in hundreds over a weekly period. When they arrive at the clinic, the doctor or nurse independent prescriber/nurse working to patient group directions labels them.
