Sky wards and flying Nightingales: Nursing in the RAF

RCN (Wales) presents an evening event looking at the past, present and future of nursing in the RAF taking place at Ty Maeth, King George V Drive East in Cardiff on 26 April. George Cuthbert, custodian of the Princess Mary’s Royal Air Force Nursing Service archive, examines the history, looking back as far as 1918 when nurses first began working in the RAF and highlighting the unique skills developed caring for the in-flight sick and wounded. Then Flight Lieutenant Paul Evans will contrast that history with his own experiences today. He has extensive aeromedical experience and was involved in the transfer of Ebola patient Pauline Cafferkey to the UK.
