Best Practice in Nursing conference

The Best Practice in Nursing conference, which focuses on primary care, will be held on 21 and 22 October at the Birmingham NEC.

The Best Practice in Nursing conference will be held on 21 and 22 October at the Birmingham NEC. The conference intends to give practice, community and prescribing nurses all of the knowledge that they will require to undergo revalidation, along with extensive CPD-accredited clinical training in key areas for primary care nurses. Some of the clinical topics that will be covered include dementia, wound care, respiratory disease and diabetes. There will be a wide range of leading nursing and healthcare figures in attendance to the conference. The conference will be opened with a joint session with Lord Willis, author of the Shape of Caring Review, Janet Davies, chief executive of the RCN, Jackie Smith, chief executive of the NMC, and Michelle Mello, deputy director of nursing at NHS England. They will discuss the future of nursing and revalidation in a transformed NHS. Other speakers include Karen Storey, primary care nurse lead for workforce at Health Education West Midlands and Ann Moger, primary care nurse advisor at NHS England, who will speak about what the new models of care outlined in the NHS Five Year Forward View mean for primary and community care nurses. The conference is free to attend.
