A lecture on the devolution of powers over health and social care to UK regions will be held at Leeds Beckett University on 25 June. Professor Judith Smith, formerly the Director of Policy at Nuffield Trust, will speak about the developments that have led to proposals for devolution in health and social care to be tabled. Warren Heppolette, Strategic Director for Health & Social Care Reform in Greater Manchester will give an overview of the progress and plans in place in Manchester, the first city to be given direct control of its £6 billion health and social care. Tom Riordan, Chief Executive at Leeds City Council, and Rob Webster, Chief Executive at NHS Confederation, will then provide perspectives from their own organisations. The event will end with a panel session with opportunity for questions from the audience.
