Independent Nurse publisher contributes to new COVID book

The book – ‘a composite journal’ which incorporates poetry, prose and images – covers the range of emotions felt by writers and artists during the span of the pandemic, and beyond
The collection includes poetry, prose, illustrations and photographs from 27 contributors

Independent Nurse publisher Mark Allen is among 27 contributors to a new book, The Covid Years which has just been published in the UK. The book – ‘a composite journal’ which incorporates poetry, prose and images – covers the range of emotions felt by writers and artists aged from 7-80 years old during the span of the pandemic, and beyond. The book is ‘dedicated to all the staff of the NHS for their extraordinary devotion under incomparable difficulties.  

Mr Allen has contributed two poems: one a contemplation of the consolations of lockdown; and another on the emotions of receiving a COVID vaccine. The collection also includes a eulogy he wrote for a family member prior to the pandemic.

The publisher Colenso has pledged to donate any profits from the book to charities dedicated to NHS staff. Copies are available from the all the usual outlets, or direct from the publisher colensobooks@gmail.com, price £13.
