Omani nurses complete international top up degree

A group of nurses from Oman are to become the first to complete a specialist training course at the University of Wolverhampton

A group of nurses from Oman are to become the first to complete a specialist training course at the University of Wolverhampton.

A cohort of 19 qualified nurses from Oman will soon complete their BSc in Nursing Studies (International) Top up Degree.

During the last year, the nurses have studied alongside students from the University's Institute of Health Professions and complete a clinical placement at the Royal Wolverhamption NHS Trust. They have also received support from the University’s International Academy, based at the Telford Innovation Campus.

Course leader Caroline Lowe said: 'The students' contribution to the Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing has been invaluable, studying alongside UK students and completing a clinical placement at the Royal Wolverhamptopn NHS Trust.'

The degree is designed to enhance a student's knowledge, skills and practice of contemporary nursing issues in an international context.

Her colleague Ann Saxon added: 'The students have all been wonderful ambassadors for their country, demonstrating a high level of motivation and dedication to their studies.'

Student feedback included: 'I have had an amazing experience at the University of Wolverhampton. It was a unique opportunity. Academics are great and the University staff are more helpful than I ever expected.”
