Pay, terms and conditions for nurses working in general practice tend to lag behind those working in the NHS on Agenda for Change contracts. This affects the ability of general practice to attract and retain nurses. The development of primary care networks may provide threats and opportunities for practice nurses. New roles will have a financial impact, but may also provide weight to arguments that general practice roles should have a standardised pay scale and be more aligned to Agenda for Change.
