Career profile: Chukwudubem Ifeajuna

Chukwudubem Ifeajuna, Clinical Nurse Lead with Virtual Wards

What made you want to go into your profession?
It runs in my family. My mum was a nurse and trained here in the UK. My mum ran her own clinic back in my country and she was a midwife as well, so I used to help her out.

I decided to go into nursing properly when I moved over here. Initially, I wanted to do mental health nursing. And my mum said, no, I don’t think that’s the right pathway for you. So she encouraged me to do general adult nursing instead . And I am glad I did.

Can you tell me how you have developed your career?
It’s been a massive progression for me which took determination and hard work. I qualified in 2014 and now I’m on band seven.
