Leadership academy supports CCG nurses

A national research centre has been launched to help equip nurses to become more effective leaders.

A national research centre has been launched to help equip nurses to become more effective leaders.

The NHS Leadership Academy will work with clinicians across the NHS to develop their leadership skills and offer support to those taking up key positions in clinical commissioning groups (CCGs).

One programme being developed will offer targeted leadership development for CCGs, helping those involved to set local visions and work with other health providers.

Jim Easton, director of transformation for the NHS Commissioning Board, which will oversee the CCGs, said: 'People will be able to access this learning and support from an "entry" level to the most senior and experienced leaders.

'With change at a scale and pace the NHS has never seen before, the fundamental difference between success and failure is the calibre of leadership.'

Nurses will also be able to access self-assessment forms and online learning modules by visiting www.leadershipacademy.nhs.uk
