The charities Education for Health and Respiratory Education UK (REUK) will merge in January 2015 to form the Education for Health Group. The new organisation will focus on supporting patients with long-term conditions by providing greater education to healthcare professionals. Both charities have cooperated on a number of education projects. The chief executives of the charities, Monica Fletcher and Gill Hall expressed their confidence in the merge. Fletcher, of Education for Health, said: 'As the number of people with these conditions continues to increase, it is vital [patients] receive high-quality care from trained healthcare professionals in order to improve their quality of life.' Hall, of REUK, said: 'This will enable us to increase the potential for significant positive outcomes in practice thereby improving the care for people with respiratory and other long-term conditions.'
