NICE smoking guidance is 'first in the world'

Written by: | Published:

Licensed nicotine-containing products can be used to help people who do not feel able to stop smoking in one step, NICE has said.

The public health guidance is the first in the world to advocate this course of treatment for people who want to stop smoking without necessarily giving up nicotine or who might not be ready to quit but aim to reduce the amount they smoke.

The guidance makes it clear, however. that the best way to reduce the harm from smoking is to quit in one step.
