PHE is investigating an outbreak of salmonella in England.

As of 22 August, 247 cases have been reported, up from 158 on 15 August. Cases have been reported in London, Hampshire, Merseyside and the West Midlands. PHE has speculated that the outbreak began from a single source, likely a contaminated batch of eggs distributed around the country. However, the infection source has not been conclusively identified.
