Minsters have pledged to reduce child deaths following a report by the Young People's Health Outcomes Forum. This found the UK to be 'worse than other European countries for many outcomes that could be improved through better healthcare and preventive interventions'.

A Children and Young People's Health Outcomes Board will be led by England CMO Dame Professor Sally Davies to bring health leaders together and keep children's health a priority.

The forum recommends that, with immediate effect, all data about children and young people should be presented in five year age bands through childhood and teenage years to allow local, national and international comparisons of key outcomes.
