Job title Practice nurse and chair, St Helen's shadow clinical commissioning group (CCG)
Location St Helen's, Merseyside
Why did you become a nurse?
I always wanted to do something medical but became a bit disillusioned with school so left at the age of 16. I then spent the next two years working in factories in Wigan, waiting until I was 18 so I could apply for nursing. I just knew it was my future. I was delighted when I was accepted and I have never looked back.
How has your career developed since you started nursing?
Nursing has changed a great deal during the 25 years since I started. I worked in Ormskirk Hospital, then in a nursing home when my first child was a baby.
