Why did you become a nurse?
I recently came across a quotation from Cherie Booth QC: 'Try to make a difference.'It reminded why I wanted to be a nurse. At my interview in 1989, I was asked this and replied that I wanted to make a difference. This may sound arrogant, but the idea still inspires me. Nurses have an incredible opportunity to influence people's lives.
How has your career developed since you started nursing?
I have worked as a community psychiatric nurse for almost twenty years but now practise with a much greater expertise. The fantastic thing about our work is that there is always so much more to learn.
