District Maternity
NHS Trust HR director Graham White provides an insight into people and workplace issues

I am a district nurse and expecting my first child. I have heard that the government is changing the rules and I can share my maternity leave with my partner. Can you confirm if this is true and, if so, how it will work.

In the UK we are progressively getting to a much better position in relation to supporting parents' balance of work and family commitments. As an older parent who is now looking forward to being a grandparent I did not have access to these new benefits and I do regret not having had a greater level of day-to-day interaction with my three children. This is changing and todays parents can look forward to a very different set of options including both parents being off on parental leave at the same time.
