Q) What is the Shape of Caring Review?
We all know that healthcare is going to look very different over the next 15 years due to a range of reasons, including an ageing population, changing patterns of health and disease, the shift to delivery of more care in community settings, advances in care and treatment, and advances in technology, to name but a few. As healthcare changes and as care patterns change, we must have a workforce of nurses and care assistants appropriately trained to meet those needs. Staff want to strive for safer, better care for patients, but they need preparation, support and development to provide consistently good care. The Shape of Caring Review will ensure that throughout their careers nurses and care assistants receive consistent high quality education and training which supports patient care.
Q) What sort of evidence do you hope to receive from nurses?
The call for evidence is now live on our website (http://hee.nhs.uk/2014/07/31/shape-of-caring-review-call-for-evidence/). We are looking for quantitative and qualitative research including good practice examples, policy initiatives, surveys or collated group feedback - the list goes on!
